Yamcha is a character from the *Dragon Ball* franchise, first appearing in *Dragon Ball* chapter 7, "Yamcha and Puar," published in Weekly Shonen Jump #14 on April 3, 1984.
Initially introduced as a desert bandit, Yamcha is motivated by a fear of being near women. He aims to rob Goku and Bulma to solve his financial problems. His primary goal is to overcome his shyness and ask Bulma out.
He later becomes an ally of Goku and friends. Training alongside them and participating in various martial arts tournaments throughout *Dragon Ball* and *Dragon Ball Z*. While he is initially a strong fighter, he often falls behind in power compared to the Saiyans. His skills are used in other ways like baseball for example.
